WHERE DID THE LIBERTY OF LONDON PRINT HOUSE ORIGINATE?
The Liberty of London print house originated in London, England, in 1875. It was founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, a draper who had a passion for Oriental fabrics. Liberty opened his first shop on Regent Street, and he quickly gained a reputation for selling high-quality, unique fabrics.
In the early days, Liberty imported undyed fabrics from Japan and India, and had them hand-printed in England in the style of Oriental fabrics. He also began to commission his own designs, and Liberty prints quickly became popular with fashionable Londoners.
By the 1890s, Liberty was one of the most successful retailers in London. He had expanded his business to include a wide range of products, including clothing, accessories, and homewares. Liberty prints were featured on everything from dresses to curtains to lampshades.
Today, Liberty of London is still one of the most iconic British brands. The company's prints are still produced using traditional methods, and they are still popular with both designers and consumers alike.
